Hello Derek,
Thanks for your encouraging e-mail regarding THE MEMORIAL GARDEN PROJECT. Most of the information about the project is on the website www.cybercloud.com.
The project is to honor the more than 3000 GIs who have paid the supreme sacrifice. As to locations for the garden we now have 4 sites interested:
the Sepulveda Basin, next to the Japanese Gardens; Pierce College; the Ahmanson Ranch; and now the LA River Project. The project has the blessing of Governor Schwarzenegger, and Richard Parsons, CEO of Time Warner.
My main effort to get the public aware is through my SINGALONG AMERICA PROGRAM. I have devised a computer program where I utilize the original recordings, sync the words and project them on the screen for the audience to singalong. For the Irish program for instance I have used Bing Crosby's famous recording of MacNamara's Band. We also have volunteer choruses and dancers from the churches and schools on stage. See attachment for other fund raising efforts.
This program lends itself to great US Holidays such as July 4, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Christmas, etc. It would be perfect to tie into the mall sales associated with these occasions. It would also tone down the criticisms I hear every Memorial Day and Veterans Day that merchants capitalize on sales and not even salute the vets. I have wonderful Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs.
As for the raising of funds, 75% of any compensation I receive from Westfield would go to the MEMORIAL GARDEN PROJECT. I have set up a fund with the First Entertainment Credit Union. I will be setting up a foundation in the near future. I recently did the show for the Canoga Parks Women's Club who made a contribution directly to the fund. I am doing the IRISH SHOW for The Bank Of America retirees luncheon on the 15th of March. We will be doing the same St. Patrick Day SINGALONG AMERICA that we hope we can do at Westfield on March 17th.
When I walked by your stage last week I noticed it was adjacent to the SONY STORE. They might be interested in supplying the giant TV screens which are required for the projection of the lyrics and of course their great sound systems.
Sincerely,
Norm Pringle
