Dear Martha,
May I say what a wonderful program you have and we enjoy it so much. I say we as my wife finally talked me into watching you . Our mornings are busy so we tape the show and watch it after dinner every night together. Now I have become a real fan and I love your garden segments and your guests After watching the segment about antiquing old flower pots I am afraid it has become an obsession with me. Only my method is not really antiquing. I call it Picasso gone wild. I have been slapping on the paint and coming up with the most unusual and most colorful plant plot creations (see photos). Now I have graduated to placing pictures onto the pots. The pictures range from sports and singing personalities to flowers. Of course I have two or three of you Martha.
I am ’s planning a Picasso Gone Wild Plant Sale to raise money for THE MEMORIAL GARDEN PROJECT of Los Angeles. The garden will be dedicated to the 2700 GIs who have given the supreme sacrifice.
There are some great locations in the San Fernando Valley that have shown interest in the creation of the garden: The Sepulveda Basin, The Ahmanson Ranch, Pierce College and the Los Angles River Association, so it looks hopeful that it might come to fruition. But the red tape involved has at times made me want to throw in the towel.
What I need is media attention. Except for some newspaper coverage at the beginning of the project the public is not aware of what I am trying to accomplish. One mention by you, Martha, might do the trick.
In the meantime we will continue watching your show and look for some more tips for in the garden and Elsie in the kitchen. Please check our website for further confirmation of the Garden Project.
